Tate Commerce is the trading arm of Tate. Its chief areas of operation are retailing on four sites, publishing (both Tate exhibition catalogues and general art books, as well as illustrated children’s books), product development, picture library and licensing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Retail Team Manager for the shops at Tate Modern, on a full-time fixed term basis until February 2021. You will be required to work some weekends and weekdays on a rotational basis. You will be responsible for opening and closing the shops, and supervising daily operations. Occasionally you will be required to deputize for the Sales Managers, so at least six months experience at senior sales or supervisory level, ideally gained in the heritage sector or a high profile retailer is important.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to communicate confidently at all levels, with proven experience of leading teams and the ability to delegate to Retail Assistants. You must be passionate about raising revenue for Tate, be an ambassador for the brand and demonstrate exemplary behaviour in all areas of your job, being a role model to staff and a support to management.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively, independent of supervision, be self-motivated and a proven problem-solver. We are looking for someone who is flexible, resourceful and loves a challenge. You will be able to inspire and motivate teams to provide great customer service, and have the ability to oversee six busy shops when acting as duty manager on a rota basis.

You will need to be able to work early mornings and late nights, and some weekends. You must have had exposure to a wide range of products from fast moving pocket money goods, to limited edition and high-end items, and be a confident visual merchandiser. If you are passionate about leading a team to deliver exceptional customer service and to up-hold shop floor standards then we’d love to hear from you.

We offer great benefits, staff training, performance and service awards, great discounts in our shops and catering outlets, Employee Assistance Program, Cycle scheme and free entry to exhibitions for our employees and their friends and family.

Interviews will be held on the 23rd and 24th January 2020.
