Tate Commerce is the trading arm of Tate. Its chief areas of operation are retailing on four sites, publishing (both Tate exhibition catalogues and general art books, as well as illustrated children’s books), product development, picture library and licensing.
We require an enthusiastic Deputy Head of Retail Operations at Tate Modern. You will be working alongside the Head of Retail Operations supporting in the management and daily operations of 7 shops, maintaining all core and fixed term rotas. You will be required to manage and report on payroll ensuring costs come in against or under budget. You will have a varied team of Retail Administrator, Book Orderers and Customer Orders to line manage ensuring they deliver to the highest of standards.
You will have full responsibility in the managing of the recruitment process for permanent and fixed term staff.
Occasionally you will required to deputise for the Head of Retail Operations, so at least 2 years experience at a management level is required, ideally gained in the heritage sector or a high profile retailer.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with great organisational skill and proven experience of leading teams and the ability to delegate to a varied team as well as communicate confidently at all levels. You must be passionate about raising revenue for Tate, be an ambassador for the brand and demonstrate exemplary behaviour in all areas of your job, being a role model to staff and a support to other departments with Tate Commerce.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively, independent of supervision, be self-motivated and a proven problem-solver. We are looking for someone who is flexible, resourceful and loves a challenge. You will be able to inspire and motivate teams to provide great customer service, and have the ability to oversee 7 busy shops when acting as duty manager on a rota basis.
You will need to be able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends, including bank holidays.
