Widen access to artworks in the national collections as you broaden your horizons.

ARTIST ROOMS is a touring collection of over 1,600 works which aims to widen access and engagement for audiences with modern and contemporary art. The collection is displayed in museums and galleries across the UK through a programme of solo exhibitions that showcase the work of 40 major international artists. The collection was acquired jointly by Tate and National Galleries of Scotland with the assistance of the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Art Fund and the Scottish and British governments.

You will gain valuable experience as you coordinate the registrarial procedures relating to the documentation, movement, acquisition and loan of the ARTISTS ROOMS collection. As a member of the dedicated ARTIST ROOMS project team, working jointly for Tate and National Galleries of Scotland (NGS), it’s an excellent opportunity for a graduate-calibre museum professional to build their knowledge of registration and national museum standards. Flexible, open and collegiate in your approach, with your strong communication skills, you’ll support the delivery of the ARTIST ROOMS programme, and document the collection, working alongside colleagues at Tate and NGS, and with Associate partners across the UK.

You will have a proven track record of working in the area of registration within a museum or gallery, together with an understanding of international museum standards for transporting, packing and handling art. Some knowledge of government indemnity, commercial insurance and environmental requirements will be essential. It’s likely you will have experience of working with collection management databases. With strong organisational and planning skills, and a close attention to detail, you’ll have the ability to remain calm and focused while working under pressure.
