Tate Eats is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tate and is proud to be the in-house provider of quality food and beverages for all the Tate sites. Our offer ranges from a sustaining sandwich to a memorable dining experience, as well as catering for special events being held by Tate’s corporate sponsors. Tate Entertaining is Tate’s own event caterer. Based at Tate Britain the team works with a wide variety of clients from internal customers (such as Education, Development and External Relations) to external customers who are sponsors, corporate members or corporate hospitality clients.
We have a zero hour contract on offer; there will often be an excess of 40 hours available additionally. Our Events Senior Supervisors will be working across both London galleries with an incredibly varied working week which will predominantly be daytime, Monday to Friday; however due to the nature of the business some evenings and weekends will be required. We are looking for people with a real passion for events, and a talent for the delivery of exceptional customer service. The successful applicants must have hospitality experience as this role requires a keen eye for detail, a calm and friendly demeanour and great organisational and communication skills. They will have the ability to inspire, lead and manage all Front of House and casual agency staff within Tate Entertaining, work under pressure and be a good problem solver. Additionally, they will be able to show they have a real love for food.
Although mainly customer-facing there will be an element of office time including event preparation, staff management and stock-counts. Working knowledge of Word, Excel & Outlook would therefore be incredibly useful. You will also be responsible for ensuring all working areas are kept clean and tidy and that the opening and closing procedures, including equipment load outs, are supervised.
Although not a compulsory requirement of the role if you hold a full UK Drivers Licence and are at least 25 years old this is an advantage as there are weekly driving duties in the Events department.
As well as a great place to work, we offer great benefits and development opportunities to the right person. If you are level-headed, focused and organised and enjoy the variety and challenges that event work brings, we’d love to hear from you!
As a member of the Disability Confident Scheme, we interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for a job vacancy.
Our jobs are like our galleries, open to all.
