We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Paper Conservator to join our Paper and Photographs Conservation team. This is an exciting new opportunity combining Tate’s Loans out and Acquisitions Programme and Library & Archive Collection. Working across the Collection Care division you will assess the needs of works of art on paper, photographs, library and archive material. You will use innovative solutions to solve complex challenges in contemporary art, survey collections, prepare items for loan, undertake treatment and ensure high standards of preservation.

You will have a professional qualification in the conservation of works of art on paper, and proven knowledge of treating a wide range of works of art on paper with full consideration of the practical and ethical issues. You will have performed condition surveys, report writing and treatment proposals and understand the long -term care issues in your specialist area. Effective communication will be essential, as well as good time management, planning skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

The role is based at Tate Britain, with flexibility to travel between all Tate sites, to support Tate’s programme.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months
