Come join the time-based media conservation team.

Time-based media in this context are artworks that have as their medium film, slides, video, audio, performance or software, they can be analogue or digital and they have the dimension of time. The time-based media conservation team is responsible for the preservation, acquisition, exhibition, display and loan of these artworks.

We are seeking a technician to work within the team to support the programme activity across our wide range of exhibitions and displays. This role will work with a team of senior technicians and conservators on the preparation and installation of time-based media artworks selected for display across all Tate sites. You must be able to demonstrate strong technical knowledge and skills required for the preparation of time-based media artworks for display.

This role will require an understanding of a range of technologies, media formats and the implications for displaying such artworks within gallery spaces. Day to day this would mean; care and maintenance of artwork equipment, liaison with other teams to organise the display of artworks and working within the team to prepare media and artwork equipment.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn and develop in this area and share skills in a collaborative environment. It would be desirable for any candidate to have an interest in contemporary art and to have some knowledge of video editing and coding softwares.
