This is a new opportunity to join Collection Management department of one of the world’s leading art institutions. We are seeking one Senior Art Handling Technician to work on our 3-year Storage Project and medium-term Storage Programme for Tate’s Collections. This role plays a key part in facilitating artwork moves between storage facilities to optimise storage capacity in support programmes at Tate.

This role sits within the Storage team of Tate Collection Management Department and Collection Care Division. This is a highly collaborative role with a wide reach across the division, touching on Tate wide programmes and collection care. You will line manage a small team of two Art Handling Technicians, Storage Project to deliver project KPIs. You will report to Storage Manager to advise and address technical issues of moving complex collections to ensure project completed in a given timeframe.

You will need practical and technical experience in handling, packing, moving and storing large and complex artworks or artefacts in storage facilities. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience line managing art handling technicians, including organise and deliver trainings, and be responsible for implementation of Health and Safety measures. You will also need to have strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.

We will provide a full equipment training programme, including all technical certifications required, to enable you to work safely up to the Tate’s standard.



This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.
