This is a new opportunity to join the Conservation department of one of the world’s leading art institutions. We are seeking an assistant preventive conservator to provide support and expertise across a range of preventive conservation activities. This role will also play a key part in our ongoing integrated pest management program at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, contributing to our understanding of risk, and the long-term sustainable care of Tate’s collections.

This role sits within the Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation section of Tate Conservation Department and Collection Care division. This is a highly collaborative role with a wide reach across the organization, touching on several program areas and collection care. You will support and assist our Preventive Conservators with IPM and environmental monitoring and provide advice on the care of Tate’s collection.

You will hold a qualification in preventive conservation or have equivalent experience in a heritage setting. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience carrying out preventive conservation activities within a complex environment and knowledge of integrated pest management. The role is varied, covering the realm of preventive conservation activities, across Tate sites within a collaborative dynamic working environment. You will also need to communicate effectively to colleagues, and external stakeholders. You will also need to demonstrate effective organisational, time management and planning skills.
