This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced art handler and technician, with exceptional people-management skills, to work at the heart of a world-renowned and award-winning public art gallery in the beautiful location of St Ives, West Cornwall.
Working as part of the Programme team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all learning events, displays and exhibitions at Tate St Ives and its associated sites have appropriate technical support. Using your high level of art handling knowledge and technical expertise, you’ll take responsibility for all art movements and the planning and implementation of exhibition changeovers, supported by the Registrar. You’ll lead and motivate the technical team using your excellent interpersonal, diplomatic and communication skills, ensuring that best working practices are always adhered to and that training and development needs are met.
You’ll be a problem-solver, using your proven experience of providing technical solutions, as well as taking responsibility for maintaining health and safety standards, managing risk, and working to meet the aims of Tate’s sustainability strategy. You’ll be excellent at providing advice on the specifications of AV and technical equipment and be responsible for its care, maintenance and storage. Computer literate, you'll also be familiar with managing budgets, purchasing and securing best value. The role requires you to work confidently and accurately under pressure as well as the willingness to work flexibly with some out-of-hours working, especially during exhibition changeovers.
